Default R/E or R/Mo

what would be better?
i think r/e is better dmg wise, but lacks healing (except for troll unguent)
r/mo is a little less dmg wise, but gets nice healing abilities, plus i think that i do enough dmg with my bow anyway.

what are your guys opinions?

I started out with a R/E and enjoyed the Fire attacks. But casting some like the Meteor knockdown caused a break from my arrow attacks. Still was nice to be able to hit enemies that were obstucted from view of my bow attacks.

I changed to R/M and I enjoy that more. Sometimes the Monk in the team can use a little help. There's still some Smite attacks for enemies not in clear view. You can use Mending on yourself if you're using a vamp bow and don't want to bother changing bows when not attacking. Or if you're pulling. Or use it on a puller. I did a Tombs run just now and saved the team with Rebirth. That's always fun to do.

If you have Factions, just get to Senji's Corner and have quick access to all professions including Assassin and Ritualist. Just 500 gold one time for access to each profession. And with a few mouse clicks you can change whenever you want.

To completely contradict the guy above me's opinion, i actually prefered the R/E, and its been my first and most played character (until recently with factions). Whether you want to use direct spells or not, which i did for a while, the ability to use the conjures is my favorite aspect, can switch to any conjure element I desire as long as you have a bow of hte same type. Fire has worked the best, with kindle or ignite. Its a lotta fun to blow up stuff from a distance with a dual shot.

Even in B/P builds, i stay R/E, dont really care to switch to mo (did that a while ago), just slap on ressurect sig and your good, just remember, use a normal bow and dont worry bout ele stuff in there, i just have a full bar of ranger attacks. Interupts ftw!

Also, ive always wanted to try a pure interupt R/Me... That would be one annoying s o b.

In the end though, it comes down to personal preference. I think its great Anet gave the ability to switch secondaries, giving you an oportunity to check out how each combination could work.

There are a lot of good ideas in the build section.

Any secondary can work great depending on what your situation is.

R/E works great with Conjure, Mark of Rodgort, Kind/Ignite, and a fiery bowstring. It doesn't work as good in South Shiver against Stone Summit rangers using Melandru's Arrows.

R/Mo is really versatile because you can use a vamp string and with enchants like Vigorous Spirit keep self healed at a really low energy cost. R/Mo is also great if you like to use pets or help with condition/hex removal in a party. Smiting with Judge's in undead areas works good too. This could be one of the best party combos because a ranger is particularly well suited to rezzing.

R/Me is also powerful. You can hex, remove hexes, degen, add to your interupts, etc.

R/Ne is a combo I'm currently trying out. Don't overlook this. I'm currently experimenting with Blood Magic. It's powerful.

R/Ne is def a secondary I have not seen much. I would love to see that work out, perhaps a ranger with a few minions? soloable ranger lol? I like the blood idea, could def see some good combos with it, but im addicted to my R/E unfortunately lol.

Are you guys talking PvP or PvE or both?

I alternate between a R/E fire damage and R/Me degen/interrupter builds for PvP.

R/N obviously seen a lot of in PvP arenas lately...the infamous touch ranger builds.

R/Mo seems like a good support role with healing/prot spells but the ones I've seen are usually pet builds using smite spells off of the pet.

I run an R/Me barrage/hex pressure build, five way att split (if you say it can't be done I'll let you come with me sometime and judge that) and it's been the best choice for me.

I can as needed: steal energy, beat people, send a big irate bird after them, heal myself in myriad ways, spike, hit lots of idiots at once, interrupt, shutdown, all kinds of stuff. Gives me what I consider to be the largest amount of flexibility.

Your mileage may vary, but I love R/Me. Experimenting with R/Rt now as well...

I am talking about PvE builds. I don't have much PvP experience ( 1 fame woot ).

For the Blood Necro I've mostly been using the basic newbie skills as a self heal and degen support. I've been working on my explorer title and it's helped with fighting into the far corners. The only big drawback for henching is the rez signet. If things go really wrong you can't rebirth the henchies out of danger. That's where the monk secondary shines.
