Default warrior fissure armor graphical question

how come the warrior obsidian/fissure armor look so smudgy and ugly in the city, but nice and outlined, clean and detailed when i'm observing a person in a gvg match with it, for example Im A Paladin in the Te vs. SotW special exhibition game.

In town the resolution of the textures on other player characters are reduced. This is why they look fuzzy compared to your character (which to you is always in hi-res). However when you go to an instance (either pvp or pve) everyone is in hi-res.

I guess it's the engine toning things down so the game does not go into jerkovision in heavily populated towns.

Same thing with your pc versus looking at someone, for some reason all armors look better on my chars than other chars. I am not the only one who has noticed that.....

Would be nice to have an option to see everyone in hi-res while in towns.

Even high-end video cards would be tasked with keeping up with hundreds of high-res character renderings. They had to find a way to tone it down or else nobody would be able to move in d1 of most areas. lol

Well, that isn't the case in D1 LA(EU-English Dist) ^^

Only about 10 people there... if you're lucky

Towns are already laggy as they are. Many computers will crash if the graphics get even more detailed.
