just a little note, u CAN get Time Out on ur login i have got it multiple times and it is NOT that someone else logs in to ur account.
and NO the games does NOT tell u anymore when u do get booted cause someone else logs on , it USED to do that , but now u only get Err=7.
so if he got time out, he most likely got it before they logged on and robbed his account, i got timed out on multiple ocations and i havent had anyone log on to my account, and any spyware/trojan so on on my pc would be killed instantly , so pls dont say u can not get timed out.
im sure someone got on his account and stole his stuff, but they most likely waited until he was offline (due to his time out) and then logged in and took what they wanted

O...k...

That wasn't smart of you, I myself used to use the same password for EVERYTHING untill someone hacked something from me, which wasn't anything big at all but still, ever since I use different passes for everything that should absolutely never ever be possibly hacked (GW). The pass I use in GW is the same as my real e-mail has as pass, and none else has that one.

You do realize you just contradicted yourself here, yes?

Only Programs you need is AVG, Ad-Aware, and Spybot Search and Destory. All free (NO TRIALS). They are the top rated programs out there.

But i don't know if there is a way to get all stuff in a database that won't encrypt the private data, but that would mean the admin of the forum did it. Or it could be a hacker that just hacked the forum and got the database, decrypted it and stole the items but that won't really happen i think
Wrong all Admins and Moderators have access to your e-mail address and profile information except password which you are right there.I know this as I am a Super Moderator on differnent style of board not vb.I would suggest as well don't use the same password on you GW accout as those on gaming forums.

Wow... I use it for TWO things, BIG DEAL!

The point is, no one will find out about that pass because I won't be stupid enough to use it at some forums let alone multiple like the thread starter did.

You sure put a lot of faith in e-mail, don't you? If your e-mail provider and 100% of their staff are competent and trustworthy, and your machine is entirely free of spyware and zombieware, and you never use POP3 (it transmits passwords in cleartext), and you never check your Webmail on any public machine or friend's machine... Then maybe that password is fairly secure. Otherwise, you have risks.

I don't mean to overstate the case. If someone's making an organized effort to snatch e-mail passwords, they've probably got no interest in taking your stuff in Guild Wars. I'm just asserting basic math here: when you use the same password in any two or more places, you multiply your risk for all of them. Any vulnerability in any channel makes the others vulnerable.

This is just common sense to me. If you're diligent enough to use different passwords everywhere else, why not separate your e-mail and Guild Wars passwords? If you're tracking all those others, is one more password really going to make a difference?
