Default Obtaining New Skills

Okay well, my pc broke down the day after Nightfall came out, so now I'm way behind and still trying to grasp a few things. First and foremost - all Skill Trainers give me exactly the same skills. How do I get new ones? Hero Skill Trainers? And is there a list somewhere with which skills are in which city?

Thanks

I've been wondering this myself.

Also, what's the deal with Hero Skill Trainers anyway? Sometimes they offer to give my Heroes already-unlocked skills (like Barbs, for example). Why would I waste a Hero skillpoint on that kind of stuff when I can just select them for free from my skills menu?

I'd rather it display already-gotten skills than not, simply because maybe I want a certain skill on another character, and I could check my higher character in several towns and be able to see which ones are available where.

I'm talking about the Hero Skill Trainer offerings, not the list from the ordinary skill trainer. The ordinary skill trainers give you a 'known', 'unlocked, etc. message because it's a drop-down list. I'm fine with that. I like it that way. The Hero Skill trainers give you choice boxes for getting skills, but they sometimes give you choices of skills your current character's heroes technically already have access to (because you've unlocked them). When I saw that they were offering me Barbs and stuff, I quickly ran to check my Necro and see if her skill listing was bugged or something. Gave me a bit of a scare. Yeah, you could use these Hero Skill Trainers to buy skills for your current characters that you don't have, but then what's the point of calling them Hero Skill Trainers? Or having this whole idea in the first place?

I guess I'm just confused as to the overall intention of the Hero Skill trainers, and how your regular character acquires new common skills.

I don't think they should be called Hero Skill trainers either, they have nothing to do with heroes at all, they give the skills to YOU at which point your heroes can use them, just like a regular trainer.

Just think of them as a regular skill trainer that takes Sunspear Promotion Rank rather than gold and skill points. They do seem to vary in which skills you can get in each town much like prophecies.

I think they should bring back skill acquisition from quests like they did in proph. It actually made me WANT to do quests. Now all I wanna do is blaze through Primary quests and missions because the other quests are completely irrelevant unless you're sub-level 20.

Could you provide the link to the thread on the Hero Skill Trainer?

And yes I knew you can get skills by way of Balthazar Faction. Skill Trainers give you a small set of skills, as well as EVERY skill you have unlocked for that campaign.

But there are a LOT of skills I need, about 30 in all. I suppose though that it will be easier since they doubled faction in all pvp areas permanently.
