Default Tyrian missions -why no primary quests

So if you take a non Tyrian character to lions arch, the first mission is Delisso Seaboard, which i can understand from the storyline point of view. Continuing from there is no problem.

But lets say you want to get the title for completeing the missions on tyira, you would need to go back and start at the great northern wall mission as well. Sure the mobs might be pretty low level , but who cares if your after the title or want to fill out the map.
Now the part i dont understand is why you dont or cant get the primary quests on this part of the map. You can do the missions no problem if you know where to go, so why not have the primary quest givers working too ?

Because it would be plain silly for an NPC in LA to send you all the way back to Ascalon (doing missions on the way? nah, that's worse) then tell you to do missions until you get back to LA.

And doing the missions counter-clockwise would be silly.

Not to mention it doesn't follow the story line at all.

You misread what i wrote.
I can undertsand starting in the missions at lions arch due to the story etc.

But IF you do go to ascalon and do missions there. The primary quest givers will not give you a primary quest . Ie: from yaks bend to borils pass

There fore any non Tyrian working on protector title needs to know where the next mission is.

Look at a map, check an older character, or just ask?

It is assumed that if you are doing titles for other chapters then you already know *something* of the game. You are moving out of the "casual" gamer mode and are expected to know somethings yourself.

IIRC, when Factions came out Canthan characters couldn't do the missions before LA either. Similarly, Tyrian characters couldn't do the island missions.

ANet's response was something along the lines of they didn't think it was fair for max characters to come back to the early, low-level areas and get skill point and experience credit for doing missions that way.

People complained that they wanted to be able to get Protector titles for multiple chapters on the same character. (Titles had just been introduced, like Factions.)

In response, ANet opened access to the early level missions for foreign characters to allow for multiple Protector titles. Foreign characters could do the early missions, but wouldn't get any skill point, experience or gold rewards for doing so. It was just for the purposes of protector and cartographer titles.

Foreign characters still cannot get quests from the early areas. That includes primary quests. I think the reason foreign characters can't get primary quests to connect the missions is understandable given the history of ANet's original intentions, player complaints, and the concessions that were made. Any foreign character in those early areas is only doing it for protector and/or cartographer titles; therefore, the player should already be familiar with the storyline.

If the player isn't so familiar with the progression, there's always the missions guides on wiki

Ah ok that explains somethings. Thanks

I took some of my factions characters to ascalon city to level up some of my heros. lvl 2 Koss is so useful to a lvl 20 :-) But i see they changed that now too so they start off as lvl 15 now.

Im glad you can do the missions etc from Lions Arch onward, I like to go to all the places and pick up skills, yeah might be a lot of work , But by the time i get to thunderhead all my heros are 20 :-) And saved myself some plat getting skills.

Glad it helped clear it up for you.

I find the missions on Istan are great for leveling up heroes. ANet finally stopped being so stingy to people that wanted to play, and, with Nightfall, foreign characters do get experience and skill point rewards for doing the early missions (and so do their heroes.) All my foreign characters took their fresh, low-level heroes through the island missions. Anything we killed along the way, they got some xp for. And upon completion, we all got a few thousand xp, and my chars got some skill points (which they often need since ANet still seems against skill quests.)

I never really saw the big deal about stopping foreign (probably max) characters from getting experience and skill points in early level missions. I mean, really, who cares? It's not a repeatable reward, so it's not like some exploit that will get you millions of xp and skill points. I was glad to see a less knee-jerk approach taken with NF.

Anyway, GL beefing up your Koss.
