Default Chaning the elemet, why is it effective?

This is just a question iv had, in areas like Hells, why would chaning the element from Fire to Cold do any good besides there weakness to it. Is that it? Does it decrease there dmg? Im not talking about rangers who bring Winter and +cold armor, just in general

Under Winter...

"This skill is very useful in the Hell's Precipice mission as almost everything is weak to cold damage."

Im guessing thats the reason? Anything els that I should keep in mind?

Thanks

In HP you are facing fire creatures so they resist fire damage. You could either bring Winter and the "normal" skills like Meteor Shower, etc or switch elementalists to use Water spells.

Your melee and ranged attackers could also use any type of elemental damage weapon and have Winter change the attacks to cold damage. If they used physical damage weapons they would be unaffected.

Likewise in the Shiverpeaks when facing cold creatures if you use fire against them you'll do better than if using cold damage.

Sometimes you have to experiment to see what certain critters are resistant to or vulnerable to.

Another reason that is listed is because of the skills in the mesmer line that grant you extra protecton vs one of the elements.
A party using Greater Conflagration + Winter and the mesmer skill Mantra of Frost will take much less damage and be able to inflict more damage against foes that are weaker to cold attacks.

Many monsters on diffent maps have a weakness to one of the elements, this is not true of other players when your in pvp. While a ranger or an elementalist can equip armor that is stronger vs one of the elements you'll have no way of know wich one.
