Default Soul Reaping Time Limit

Skill balancing...blah blah blah

Can anyone tell me the purpose in placing a five second delay on energy gain from soul reaping?

I've noticed that Arena Net enjoys utterly destroying every good thing in Guild Wars, so I'm assuming they felt they needed to touch Necromancers too...

Sorry for my tangent, but I just don't see the purpose in a time delay for Necromancers' Soul Reaping.

So theres a chance you may not always have full enegy as soon as things start to die. I'm getting sick of the bitching about this

Because it was way to powerful. Period. Lets say you are running a MM build without runes. That would be 12 death magic and 12 soul reaping. If you kill a group of 5 enemies. You would get 60 magic back in return (5 x 12 = 60). Then add on top of that whatever minions died, and you are almost always going to be at or near full magic. That is to powerful. Since most people will have runes you could get that up to 16 soul reaping and 80 magic return ( 5 x 16 = 80) from killing that one group. Need I say more.

The soul reaping change created a storm of complaint and argument - search and u will find enough comment - and one particular thread in the Riverside Inn which would make your eyes bleed to read through. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10139355

My main Char is a necro - so, sure, at first it felt weird and not at all good/fun to have my builds messed with, I was upset about my PVE Char being "nerfed", and I moaned about it too because (to me) in the GW PVE instancing system there is no need for balancing "overpowered" skills/primaries... but hey, I then spent some thought and time with her skills and - what do you know - I figured out a way to make her curses build kick butt again - and now I kill even faster than I did before, hehe. It didn't effect her MM build at all, and neither were my MM Heros gimped - we just keep rolling.

You will get little sympathy here on the boards - you will be told to adapt. A-net has stated that the SR change is still under "investigation" and they will eventually make a final decision as to what they will do about it. In the mean time - look at the builds section of this board, check out pvxbuilds.com or just go through your skills list and find options that work under the new system.

Please don't you let this upset you so much that you rage quit GW - the game is far too good to leave before you have tried as many options as possible to make your Char a cool monster destroyer again

Keep well
Friday

There's a thread somewhere explaining why the time limit isn't a big deal somewhere on guru. If someone can point to it please do, can't seem to find it anymore. And that thread is right, it isn't a big deal, my MM did just fine before and it does just fine now even without any reskilling. They lowered the energy cost of some skills to to compensate and it compensates just fine imo.

That nerf happened mostly because some PvP builds were becoming too powerful with soul reaping the way it was before.
