Question Need Advice on Profession Combos for 2 People

Hi

I've levelled an Elementalist/Monk to 18 in the Prophecies campaign, then not played for about 6 months, so I'm a bit rusty.

My roommate and I are planning to start playing the Prophecies campaign with new characters, and I want to come up with a pair of character combinations which will work well together. We will mostly not be grouping with other players, as we like to take our time with missions, which would drive most other players crazy .

So we'll have 2 player characters primarily grouped with henchment. Given that, what profession combinations would be a good idea? From what I've read, the main roles needed are Tank, Nuker and Priest.

My roommate has played EQ2, and she tends to die easily . She seems to have a great talent for aggroing groups, then getting confused and slightly panicked Basically, she isn't terribly good at spotting dangers nearby, and she isn't good at reacting quickly to situations in which she is under attack. Which makes me think that the best profession combo for her would be something with high survivability, like a War/Mo. She plays a druid in EQ2, so she is used to keeping us healed, and the Warrior would hopefully make her mistakes less costly . I'm not sure what other combos might be good for her Ra/Mo? Monk as primary? What are the pros and cons of Wa/Mo vs Mo/Wa?

I'm leaning towards another Elementalist as primary, and I was thinking of a Mesmer as secondary. I have heard E/Mo is the best for soloing, though since I already have that character, I was hoping to try something else. I've heard E/Me is really fun - I am aming for a combination which will be interesting and non-repetitive, as well as working well with my roomie's character.

Obviously, the primary profession is the critical decision, since we can change the secondaries after Ascension. Eventually, we may be doing PvP (certainly I plan to), so that will be a factor, too.

So, what would work well? Wa/Mo or Mo/Wa or Ra/Mo or Mo/Ra) + (E/Me or E/Necro or E/Ra ?/E) Would Warrior or Monk be the best primary for her. Should I take Elementalist as a secondary rather than I primary?

Any suggestions?

Also, to make the decision even tougher, can Factions or Nightfall professions be used to create characters for the Prophecies campaign?

Thanks,
Sky

Well whatever you choose don't forget, as you mentioned, you'll be taking henchmen so they can fill out the other roles.

So if you go ele and she goes war, you can use a monk henchmen and another henchmen to fill out your team and make it balanced.

Also play to your PRIMARY strengths, don't go W/Mo and become a healer.
Don't go Ra/Ele and use ele skills (Many Rangers have used Firestorm and/or flare ....which they shouldn't)
Just play what both of you would think you'd like to play.

As for professions from Factions and Nightfall, you can't pick those professions IN prophecies BUT you can choose those professions (A, Rt, Derv, Para) as a SECONDARY in the appropiate game.

So if you made an Ele in Prophecies, you'd have to wait until you Ascend (In the desert of Proph) and get to the right place in Factions or NF to take one of the new professions as a secondary.

Something about those two parts I bolded doesn't make sense. Tends to die easily, agroes everyone in sight and panics, that does fit the typical wammo stereotype. Then again people, especially on this forum, love to hate on wammos. I would suggest you go as a warrior so that you can control the agro, and have her go as a ranger or elementalist, they are both easy classes to play and are backline classes so that she can learn the game and not have to worry about messing anything up.

I would suggest that you have your roomie play some form of a caster so as not to cause aggro. A ranger is an easy one to learn and a long bow keeps you at a distance. Necro is also a fun profession, necro/mesmer curses/degen is a powerful character. Ele is also easy to learn and may be a good starting point for her. Play around with a couple different characters in pre-searing and see what she likes, it is easy to try out the different professions and secondaries and get enough of a feel for it to decide what you like. Warrior and healer henchies can round out your party so you could both try rangers, necros, mesmers and eles and see what is the most fun for you. You will each have 4 character slots so you are not set in stone with one character class.
