Default Secondary in other edition?

I am a new player. What is the easiest way to choose a secondary profession that is in a different edition than your primary? For instance, say you own Factions and Nightfall, and you want to create a Dervish/Assassin (I am speaking about PvE by the way). What is the easiest way to do that?

All the ways that searching turned up seemed to require you to be pretty high-level. Is there a way to do this without "ascending?" It seems that ascension requires you to be fairly close to 20.

You will need to get your character "ascended" then take him to the other campaign and change your secondary. You can't reach the profession changer in Factions or Nightfall without being ascended.

Or even in Prophecies.

D/A - starts in Nightfall, completes quests to get to Cantha. Finishes V. Square, then Nahpui Quarter.

The only way, since Dervishes are only in Nightfall. Only core primary professions can be started in any campaign.

I'm not at all sure if it's possible, but perhaps you could start a new character (in Nightfall) as a D/A. But, if you already have a character that you want to change the secondary of, you will need to get "ascended" first.

You can't start as a D/A in Nightfall.

Quickest way to make a D/A (I just did it in Nightfall) is to go through the starter island, complete the Consulate Docks mission, complete the Hunted! quest and one more quest - you can switch to D/A in the Command Post.

You can switch your secondary from any Dervish if you follow that path - much easier than going through Factions.

Very quick....

Austin, Texas in the house? (judging by your avatar) It's where I live too. About how much play time did it take to do that? Where is the command post? Is that on Battle Isles or somewhere in Nightfall land?

Thanks for the answers!
