Default GWEN Heroe stole my items?

I recently used the 5-hour free GWEN key, and added a couple GWEN heroes to one of my characters. I equipped those two heroes with some weapons. Well, after my 5-hours was up, those heroes are disabled and I can't get my items back!

Anyone know if it's possible to get them back, and if so.. how?

Thanks,
spore.

The only way to get your items back is to buy GWEN. All GWEN content from the trial is locked and can't be changed without the full game.

You'll probably have to buy GWEN and add the key to your account to get them back..

These items were NOT from GWEN. They were actually greens from Tombs in Prophecies.

So, you're telling me to get back the items that I got in prophecies, I have to buy GWEN? That doesn't sound very ethical on ArenaNet's part.

The items have nothing to do with it. You simply can't access GWEN content (ie, the heroes) unless you buy the game. I think it was an oversight on the part of ANet, much like the fact that anyone who used the trial can't abandon leftover GWEN quests for the same reason.

It doesn't matter where the items originated from. The heroes were unlocked for a specified amount of time and they're locked again until you buy GWEN. It's like using a trial key for another campaign and when the trial is over, you don't have access to those chars or their equipment until you buy the campaign or get another trial key. No one said that ANet has to make sense *sigh*

EDIT** Fury and I keep posting at the same time so sorry about the redundancy lol

Well I think that's messed up. It's a "trial" key. You're supposed to use it to see if you want to buy the full expansion, not to be trapped into buying it because you can't get your damn items back if you don't.

Hopefully this is an oversight on their part, and I do plan on buying GWEN... wasn't planning on buying it yet, but I guess I'm going to have to get it sooner than I planned.

Thanks for the input people.

You might try putting a ticket in, maybe? Since they're greens and not like grapes or something. Maybe they'll make a concession.

You willingly put the items on the heroes.

And it only makes sense that you wouldnt be able to use the Eye of the North Content (Heroes) when the trial ran out.

Just make a note of this as a mistake and move on.

Tombs greens are about 2k. It's not like you equiped Tormented weapons or something expensive.

Although I am using no evidence right now since I am at work, but:

I am quite sure ANet mentions that anything applied to Heroes can not be recovered if a Hero becomes locked or otherwise inaccessible.

SPOILER!!!!

For example, in NF, when you lose Koss, the weapons you had on him are gone till you get him back.

/SPOILER!!!!

So when it comes to not being able to access Heroes, yes, ANet has mentioned it if you pay attention.

Its not readily accessible for that important of that information, no, but they are covered and if you were more diligant in read rules you would have noticed most likely. (Hint to ANet, make it more apparent next time ).

As for the "trap" for you to buy GWEN to get them back... um, if you desire to really feel the need to pay 40 dollars to get back some items, that, unless they are uber rare (which why would you give them heroes), you can obtain back for free anyways. Its not like ANet makes real money when you trade GW gold or get it normally...

How is that an oversight, though? I see absolutely no reason why you should be allowed to access heroes after the trial is over. They're part of the trial and your trial is now over.
Even if they did allow you to add them what would they do why you mapped into an explorable area? Not allow you to map? I'd say this was the easiest and most logical of the two.

I do agree about the quest thing though, that's just stupid.

Not much of a spoiler, considering it happens for about two seconds pretty early in the game.

Ok lets give the OP a break please, anyone of you could fall into the same mistake.

Its an oversight on Anet's part and they should have added a few lines of code to put back any items in the inventory.

Humans make mistakes all the time and don't say that Anet can't access people's inventories, they did it when they removed that axe (forgot its name buts its the one that enabled your to put in 2 mods of the same kind) a couple of years ago.

It would be helpful if Anet had a big warning box appear 30 mins before your trial ends that says:

WARNING!!! Your trial will end in 30 minutes. Please remove any items you may have equipped on your heros before your trial expires.

Then maybe another warning at 5 minutes.

Because you are a great programmer or some kind of code kiddie? I doubt it, and if you are, "A few lines of code" is barely what it would take for this. I get annoyed by people like you with their, "Oh, they should just change the code to make it work" demands. If it was more feasible, it would be done. Period. Maybe it is simple, but clearly ANet hasn't done it. Maybe they know the scope of the problem, maybe they don't. But they do understand its complexity. Since you are not an employee I can not believe you know the first thing of what you said.

The obvious solution for the more suseptible folk is for ANet to pronounce these facts with more assertion, and hope people don't act stupid. That is the simple, and most likely effective method. If it were "just a few lines of code" for the "return all weapons on GWEN heroes to me when trial locks me out", then how could it tell the difference between your items and GWEN items that he would not normally aqcuire anyways. More complexity. A clear message/news item/announcement/whatever would prevent more cases of this than a code change. Calling the current method unethical is just being overdramatic.

Again, this is not major, those weapons can be recovered for free my friend, you don't have to purchase GWEN to do it if you don't want. Just play, get them again, or buy them from someone with in-game gold. Yes, its an annoyance, but is it in no way ANet trying to squeeze you to get another copy.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I have few tombs greens gathering dust in storage. If you tell us what one you lost I may be able to donate it (or something similar) to you.

As someone said, it's only tombs greens therefore no big loss, but I know it can leave a bitter taste in your mouth sometimes.

you CAN keep the weapons you aquired during the free trial.

And that is unfortunate that you left weapons on your heroes, lucky for you none of them have a value of anything greater than 10k.
