Default how are things valued ?

can someone please explain what makes some items very valuable and others not ?

I see some things selling for 100k and their skins are just plain ugly. I also dont understand why req increases value on some items where req has no relevance (eg swords - why should a sword with a req of 7 be worth a lot of money when to use a sword properly you need +14 swordsmanship)

I ahve lots of gold stuff in the vault many with max stats and I dont have a clue what is worthless and what is not.

mainly it depends on the rarity of the drop.... Req 7 max items drop way less frequently than a req 9-13 item. Same with skins...just because a skin is ugly doesn't mean it won't sell...it depends on how rare the item is...heck it doesn't even have to look different just be called different...take a look at the prices on the swamp club thingy!

supply and demand for the most part, others just seem to think that because they have something with a low requirement it should be worth something. For the most part I wouldnt worry about it, but if you want to find out about the gold junk in your storage visit the price check forum.

And regarding low requirement: If you have a req 7 weapon, you can at least get the "max damage" (15-22 for sword, etc...), and have PLENTY of points for other skills from other skill lines. So, 7 points in sword instead of, say, 10, frees up 30+ points to put into tactics, strength, your 2nd prof, etc...
So instead of 9 sword, 9 strength, 9 tact., you could run 7 sword, 11 strength, 9 tact...and still have points left over for 2nd prof.

This is why req 9 is relatively desireable: the "market" has determined that this is low enough to be desireable, and high enough that some req 9s are inexpensive. Req 9 will save you, again, over 30 points, over req 10 or 11, to use as you see fit in your build.

People don't buy req.7 swords so they can pump more points in to Healing Prayers for better Mending. A level 20 Warrior should always have 12+ in weapon mastery unless it's an obscure farming build.

If someone manages to conjure up the gold to buy a req.7 sword to then use 7 Swordsmanship, there's a real discrepancy in his knowledge about the game.

/superagree

buying q7's is just plain silly imo

(this might not be relevant coming from me, i'm frugal and only use endgame greens on every character)

When you get alot of money, there is nothing usful as such to spend it on, fow=1.5K armor req 7= endgame green. So you gotta spend it on somthing .

Yeah I would have to agree. You wouldn't want to run only a seven in whatever attribute because that also effects your skill potency too. Besides the closer you are to 12 the better chance to score a critical hit. I think the real reason R:7 is more expensive is because of that modifier makes it even more rare. A R:7 zodiac axe is even more rare than a R:9.

But yeah like everyone said. Rarity is the reason why things are so expensive. The only reason. I think what you should aim for is a weapon in the R:9-11 range. 11 to save the most money. That way you can set you attribute to 12 gain the most benefit from critical hit and your weapon not be reduced to a match stick if hit by weakness.

Req 7 primary weapons are for the richest and luckiest in GW and they don't mean much at all. There's a point when people have farmed themselves half way to death and they just want something to show for it. It's either that or they bought plat on eBay. Someone holding on to a rare 7 should sell that thing right away! Cash in on it!

A req 7 shield, now that's something truly valuable!

Game items are like antiques. They are worth what someone is willing to pay.

That I forgot. Req.7 shields have a practical reason for their value outside of pure vanity.
