Default Splinter weapon on heroes?

This may have been covered already...i checked search but didnt come up with anything.

If i have a hero with splinter weapon on his/her bar will they only use it on people using a bow/melee weapon...or will they use it on my monk with a wand.

Long story short...is it safe for my monk to use his +5 energy sword without the hero casting splinter on him.

I agree, i've tried it myself and the hero does cast it on everyone in the party. However, setting the hero to "avoid" might cause that hero to stop casting it at all. Heroes set to avoid will not cast any offensive spells at all and if Splinter is viewed by the AI as offensive, they won't cast it.

Hmm....well I just did all of the warband of brothers quest and the whole time i had a wand equipped i never got splinter cast on me but as soon as i equipped my sword i started getting it spammed on me...so i think it is linked with what weapon you are holding.

They will mostly be casting it on melee characters but once those are covered they'll use it on your monks aswel..so ye..my monks are set on guard and help destroy mobs with splinter :P

set the monk to avoid combat and the rit hero will not cast splinter on the monk.

They are very good about putting splinter on ranged characters and putting ancestors on whatever's getting attacked.

They have BAD AI for weapon spells most of the time. A few of them work well, like a N/Rt using [skill]Weapon of Remedy[/skill]. However, I used a R/Rt with Splinter, and noticed it got used on 1 person on the team 90% of the time, and it wasn't the Ranger using [skill]Barrage[/skill]. Nope, Jin was casting Splinter on Dunkoro, who had a staff, and was set to Avoid Combat.
