guildwars.com has all the info you need about proffesions and everything. I'd say go ether with warrior or elementalist. those two are fun to play. Try monk, they go in any party

I would not suggest playing Monk first, unless you played something of the priest nature in WoW?

Some easy characters to start off with IMO are Warrior, Elementalist or Ranger.

Warrior - sword + shield. straightforward.
Elementalist - spells + energy storage + foe = dead. Again, straightforward.
Ranger - bow + bow attacks + a bit of expertise. There ya go

what he said^

and also the game manual you got with the game should give you a rough rundown of each class, it's a good place to start.

warriors and ele's are the big damage dealers (of the core proffessions at least, but I won't go into that) however necromancers aren't to be overlooked either. They kick serious butt and have lots of different ways to do so. Not to mention they have the most badass style second only to warriors imo.

Don't be afraid to make a new character if your current one isn't doing it for you anymore, I think you'll find that each class has a radically different playstyle. It's fun to mix things up from time to time

And my advice is to find a character you really like, play through the storyline with him/her before moving on to PvP, this way you'll have aquired lots of useful skills, and have a much better idea at how to play that class.

What class you find fun depends entirely on the player. Such a question can only be answered by yourself. The best option is to try every profession out yourself and pick your favourite.

ok,lol
i would say ranger ftw
not gaylementalist
warriors are good but i own them in ab so not really
you gotta try ab its really fun you need factions for that

why rangers cuz they got skillz ,by atacking really fast, self healing
apply poison+burning arrow+screaming shot nice degen will kill fast

elementalis have good dmg but they get interrupted /killed easy

also start your chars in factions since you will lvl really fast doing primary missions/quest

I assume u mean beserk as in increased attack speed? If yes, then they do, however often times there are drawbacks to skills that give you a huge advantage (as in frenzy increased attack speed but you take double damage, or flurry increased attack speed but you do like 33% less damage) GW is all about your 8 skills that you bring into the fight. You can bring skills that counter the drawback of other skills, or buff your other skills. But you have got to remember you only have 8 slots for skills. This is the strategy of GW.

Id recommend when you start in the beginner areas, for example as a warrior, try out all the different 2nd professions to get a feel for the other profession skills. Who knows you might want to make a 2nd character with a different profession since you liked the skills so much as a 2nd profession......Eh play the game you'll know what i mean in a short time, hahaha. Remember you have 4 character slots, so feel free to make several characters.

Warriors have some cool skills for sure. They have a few skills that let them attack faster - the first of these that most Warriors learn is Frenzy (makes you attack 33% faster, but makes you take double damage). Later on you'll find other similar skills with different side effects.

Warriors also have three different weapon choices, each with their own set of linked attack skills with different effects. Swords have a number of skills that inflict bleeding, or have an extra effect if your target meets the right conditions (such as Final Thrust, which does even more bonus damage if your target is below half health). Axes have a number of skills that let you inflict conditions that debilitate your enemy. Hammers have a number of skills that let you knock enemies flat on their backs.

On top of all that, they have a few skills that let you buff your teammates, and let you endure more incoming hits. Not to mention their reliable and impressive DPS. A very solid choice for a newcomer
