Default Is There Any Point Bringing Koss (Warrior Hero) Into Your PvE Party?

I was just wondering whether or not to include Koss in the 3 heroes I usually take into PvE with me because he can only attack 1 thing at a time. I prefer attacking multiple enemies so I usually take Acolyte Sousoke (Fire Ele), Dunkoro (Healer) & Olias (Minion Master) + myself (Fire Ele).

I was just wondering if anybody actually takes Koss and if so, what is your reasoning for it seeing as he can only attack 1 thing at a time (or a few with hundred blades)?

Thanks.

I never take Koss or any warrior Hero with me, but that's because, like you, I usually bring an MM if I'm H&Hing. When I do want a melee hero with me I tend to use a Dervish instead.

I can't say there's any particular reason for it, though.

Because spreading out damage may not always be the best solution

Granted, I don't take certain heroes unless I need them for a quest/mission, Koss is one of those heroes

I barely take koss, and if I do it's because I need a tanker. But I mainly use Melonni, Razah and Dunkoro. I hardly ever use Tahlkora and Koss, because I find that they're useless, since I have all but two NF heroes.

But I know what you mean, by saying he's pointless.

I never take Koss because the warrior henchmen do his job just fine.

The henchie eles and necros however, are subpar compared to mine. I run Vekk, Zhed, and Olias at all times.

I usually bring Jora + Vekk + Zhed. Sometimes Jora gets switched for Livia (MM) depending on the zone.

It's a matter of complexity and survivability. Generally speaking, you don't need much form your warrior hero/henchman other than they can stay alive and attack. With most of the other classes, however, you are looking to accomplish a very specific goal. That goal or the means to accomplish it is rarely provided by the pre-built henchmen. It is possibly one of the reasons 7 heroes are not permitted - you could create the "perfect" party if that was the case.

I sometimes use warrior heroes for certain builds where I want lots of single target damage, but generally the reason I don't use a warrior hero in normal play is because the henchies aren't all that bad, since half the damage a warrior does is just auto attacking whereas casters are completely dependent on their skill sets (and therefore are worse off since hench skill sets are overall rather meh). Its not that the heroes are bad, its just that the difference between a well built necro or ritualist hero and their hench counterparts is far greater then that of a warrior hero and its counterparts.

OK guys thanks a lot. What do you think of the healer hench though? Would it be worth it to bring an extra damage dealing hero & just let the hench do the healing or should I bring Dunkoro?

By and large, I've found that while the monk henchies are reasonably good, my heroes can do the job better. My party almost always includes both Dunkoro and Tahlkora as backrow support; but then again, my general strategies are based around attrition rather than strong DPS (I play mesmer, so I need the monsters to stay alive a little bit longer for my hexes to have full effect).

I spend my hero spots on character types you cannot get from henchies. devona does fine.

EDIT: same with monks, the occasional RC, sometime a WoH in areas where the henchies suck, but having heroes do damage is better.

Personally I feel the monk henchies do quite well, I normally run 1 mm + 2 fire eles, 1 mm + 2 splinter rangers, 2 mms + paragon, 2 mms + ss necro, or some kind of combination of it. Groups die so fast that it really doesnt matter how much healing you have, since they never get past the minions. In areas without corpses eles with a ward or two and paragon shouts help your party survive a ton while still dealing good damage. Myself I usually make the macgyver of the group, scrounging together whatever kind of special shutdown, disruption, protection the party needs that hero's don't use well.

I prefer to run 3 damage heros and use the hench monks, they are sufficient for most areas that one can H/H.

Eh, I usually run Jora, Livia, and Hayda (Now anyway). Depending on the area, I'll switch Jora out for any of the ranger heros for another splinter barrager. Build I'm using for Jora/any of the warrior heros is fairly useful in spreading more AoE damage and poison around.

Generally run this build on Jora

I take koss on occassion. I usually set him up as war/ele and get him to bring high damage skills as well as some wards. This is all dependent on where i'm going at the time, but depending on the situation he can be quite useful, and as far as warriors go he aggroes far less than any of the war henchmen.

Hundred Blades is not the proper use of a warrior, nor is "tanking."

I took Koss, Jora, and Goren along with my warrior to kill Cyndr and the Great Destroyer. Cyndr was not able to refresh his armor before we killed him. I also like to load running builds on the 3 warrior heroes as a distraction if I want to run someplace in a hurry. If hero AI could use adrenaline skills , I would take them more often.
