Default Best Pre-searing profession?

Hi, I'm thinking of creating a Pre-searing only character, and I was wondering which is the best profession for that kind of thing?

I will probably end up going for the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title aswell.

Thanks

Meh, whichever profession is your favorite, go with that.

Mesmers are great in presearing.

A handful of the better ones started soloing charr at level 6. I don't think any other profession can match that.

Necros can definitely match that, and probably beat it. Eles might be able to as well, but I can't be sure, since I've never done much with an ele in presearing. However, ele does have firestorm, which is one of the best skills to have in pre.

I would just choose whatever you think you would enjoy the most. All professions are capable of doing what is involved to get the title, although some can't solo charr as early as others. But as DOCB22, you can get a lot more detailed info from the Presearing community website.

Warriors and Rangers can enjoy perfect equipment, but you need to get them to useable level (where they can aford 9 points in weapon mastery, can happen quite early if you can aford minor runes)

when i was hunting char bosses as a warrior at lvl 15, i was with a ranger my level, he could spike each boss from high above, all i could do is spam 1 dmg bow attacks to get in on the XP, the bow was the darksteel bow you get when u pre-ordered gwen, 3 minute runs too.

so yeah rangers would have to be the best in pre-searing.

Mesmer > All. Mesmers are more than capable of soloing entire groups, even two-shaman groups. Elementalists are weakened by the fact that Fire Storm doesn't create damage fast enough to replace a good Heal Area by a Shaman. I speak from experience, I have a Level 16 Mesmer in Pre.

Not a lot of skill options in pre

backfire - your main dmg against casters

empathy - your main dmg against rangers and melee - although the casters will try to attack you between spells so it works against them too and has lower recharge time than backfire

phantasm - not a lot of dmg but quick cast and sets up a hex for shatter illusion - also handy while your other dmg skills are recharging

shatter illusion - the final stroke to remove the last few hit points from an enemy

ether feast for a quick heal

The other skills can be from another prof - just take the quests for them but don't accept the reward unless you really need to put point into their attributes to make them useful

I prefer ranger myself so bring a pet - not because they are really useful but because the casters are your main danger at the very low levels and if you have pet set to passive they will hit cast on the pet instead of you about half the time

If you bring a pet you can also bring troll ungent for a little more healing

with three non-memser skills you do sacrifice imagined burden but I never found that useful

As long as I avoid groups with 2 shaman I can easily kill the bosses at lvl 6 or 7 (can handle 2 shaman at this level but it's tricky). At lvl 8 or 9 even 2 shaman are no problem.

My fave pre-searing Character is E/R. Great for north of the wall from lvl 8 up. Hide behind things, let your pet block, and "rain on their parade." Troll Unguent is good heal with just 3 point in WS. 3 or 4 points in Energy, the rest in Fire Magic. Take bow to pull. By the time you reach lvl 16, it becomes almost boring. You may want a trusted friend to ferry dyes, runes, and insigs to post for you. Over a couple of days, raise 10k to 15k plus those nice drops.

Oh, those Charr Salvage kits bring 5k or sell uses for 1.5k. Me, I just sell them to those that can afford them.

Two tips: Don't take a secondary or accept any quest rewards until you're level 19 if going for LDoA. It makes that last level go much, much faster. If you're not a Ranger primary, do the /R secondary quest & get a pet (but don't accept the reward until later). Pets make nice meat shields against the charr. (Note: you can do all the secondary profession quests without accepting any rewards - if you do so, I recommend doing ranger last so you keep the pet and troll unguent.)

Best profession? Doesn't matter much, tbh. Ranger and Warrior have the best armor you'll get in pre-searing, which makes pulling charr for death levelling much, much easier. Mesmer, Ranger, and Ele have the best offense (at least until you take a secondary). Either mesmer or ranger is probably best balanced, and I'd give the nod to ranger (AoE with Ignite Arrows, no scatter AI in pre-, and much better armor than mesmers have). The ability to solo charr doesn't really matter to be honest, because in a duo you should be able to take them down much more quickly & do more runs anyway (it evens out on experience over the long haul, and if you're going for LDoA, it's a long haul regardless of your profession). After level 16 you've got to death level, and at level 16, you should be able to pull and kill charr regardless of your primary profession.

Personal experience: I have LDoA on a warrior. I've had characters of all professions get to level 12-14 in pre-, some multiple times, because I've always like pre-searing. I'm currently working on LDoA with an ele and a monk, who are both level 14 at the moment. Eventually I'd like to make a perma-pre ranger, time permitting.
