As for whether it's allowed

The lisence agreement you pay for when you buy a GW account entitles you to play the game using that account, to the best of my knowledge there isn't a clause that says you can't use multiple accounts simultaneously if you have paid for them.

You do afterall need to have 2 GW accounts for it to work, and that means you did pay ArenaNet for it.

Arenanet don't care how many copies of gw you run on your pc at the same time.

Woah! Don't go bugging around with the inside of your pc if you dont know what your doing, there's a much easier way to get two clients up at once.

I use gwx2.41, its a programme that does it all for you and i can vouch for it being bug-free, so long as you get it from an offical site. All you need to do is create a copy of the guild wars folder in the same directory you have installed (so c\ programe files \guild wars copy) and whenever theres an update re-copy over the guildwars .dat file (otherwise it wont load the older version of guild wars)

Here is a link to the offical site: http://gwx2.co.nr/

Has anybody else used this program?

I would think if you own both copies of GW there shouldn't be a problem... I would think....

I have run both my accounts at the same time, using my desktop and a laptop, but I have never ran them both out of the same computer.

The tutorial method works just fine. I have often ran 2 GW's on both my laptop and home pc for various reasons. You don't mess up anything inside your machine. The only alteration that exists is to use a hex editor to change a name string in one gw.exe.
