Default Question from a Newbie. (About Classes)

Ok, well I am Getting Prophecies and EotN (in the Platinum Thing) Tommorow, And I am stuck in a Delimma about which class I should be. I Am trying to decide between a Ranger and Necro. Both seem cool to me, But Necro's don't seem very begginer friendly.
So I was just wondering, But What Class would probably be better for a new player? And any specific Pros and Cons that are really signifigant would help as well.
Thanks in advance, and If this is in the wrong place, please tell me.

I'd say that the only professions I would advise against for a newbie is Monk and Mesmer. Monk because good healing can hinge on your knowledge of the game (such as all the various conditions and hexes, and where you should position yourself in battle), and Mesmer because it's one of the more complicated classes that takes some knowledge of the game to truly master. All the other classes, including Necro and Ranger are easy enough for anyone. You can make both, since you get at least 4 character slots, and see which one you like most. In Guild Wars, it's easy to maintain multiple characters, so don't hesitate to make several at once!

Monks get relatively good skills at the start, if you plan to do the starter quests and explore the starter areas (you should), then a monk would be a good choice. Either way you'll end up trying out all the classes and then you can choose the one that suits you best.

Alright then, Thanks. I Guess Ill just Make a necro first, then a Ranger later. One other thing I was wondering is, Since I am getting EotN as well, Do I get any extra character slots?

no, there are no extra slots with the eye of the north (it was considered an expansion and not a chapter)....
you can make both characters and see which you like playing---and then go back and play the other since you have 4 slots to start with....

I had a blast playing necro----

warrior is probably the best for a beginner IMO because all you do is smash stuff and you don't need to know a lot about skill synergy and e management etc.

Go ele for the pwnage you can unleash. Unfortunately most of the better elites come along w/factions and NF, but you have some great skills available to you. Warrior's also a great choice, but stay away from the [frenzy][healing signet] combo for a bit

lol @frenzyhealsig. But how many people use heal sig now? Lions Comfort isnt terrabad now (nightfall I know...)

But imo warrior is good for beginners simply very minimal skill synergy is necessary except for sever+gash. But if you do play warrior don't try to use multiple weapons in a build. (Still can't believe people ran that warrior with magehunters+steelfang)...

I think a warrior is the easiest for a beginner.

I'd suggest running a Ranger at first, simply because they have a wide array of abilities--you'll probably learn more about game mechanics in general.

Basically, pick the class that says "this is bad ass!" and choose it. Follow your heart!

I would sugest you try every profession as they are very unique to GW. Though many look like classes from other games they do not functions quite the same in GW.

You may find that one profession plays more in your preferred "style" than another. Also the more skills you aquire for a profession the greater variety of builds you can employ.
