Default Very Bizarre Situation (Kinda)

Hey, so a guy was doing some random quiz, and the prize was an account, now I just thought meh good joke and all, but correctly answered and he gave me some details. Anyway, so i thought I may aswell check it out, and it turns out it is in fact a real account and is pretty empty (as in 2 lvl2 chars etc). Not only that but there are quite a few additional slots, as well as all the games on the account. Thing is though, it all seems a little dodgy tbh, maybe it is just good will but....

Anyway, would just like some advice on what to do if possible please & thanks. Strangest thing I've seen happen in a long time.

Change the email address and password (email first) and then get free money with the xunlai tourny house.

I believe technically it still breaking the terms to give away accounts(as i know 100% it breaks terms to sell) so idk the account could possibly be banned. As they will be able to tell the account has shifted hands since now they follow ip adresses. Untill then enjoy the account play with it use it as storage and use it for xunlai house.

Well its up to you then, pm the dude asking for the plaync account info (doubt you'll get it but whatever) or use it as a second account. Just dont go bragging to everyone as its technically against anets rule.

Or just swap passwords each other day or so... that way the password recovery probably will be too slow to catch up with you if he decides he wants it back ^^

I wouldn't store anything on it, or keep/make anything valuable on it just in case the guy's anticipating it and plans on taking it back. Just use it for the monthly predictions for free zkeys.

As the others have said, change passwords every couple of days, keep valuable items away from it, and just use it for getting Z-keys.

absurd
they would ban you if you logged in from grandmas house then.
or any other computer but your own.
which they won't.

i advise not placing anything of value on it, especially if you cannot change the login info

Send a support ticket to Anet about it. Chances are it is an account that was scammed, and the owner will be sending in a ticket himself. Keep yourself safe from Banning, and help out the fool who lost his account.

yeah, I went a sent a support ticket last night, figured it may have been some scammed account or something. Just gotta wait for a reply.

edit: yeah, seems like they're gonna give it back to whoever took it, so it probaably is a scammed account.

"Thank you very much for contacting the Guild Wars Customer Support Team. We will use the information you have provided to investigate whether a violation of the rules has occurred and will take the appropriate actions.

In any case, trading, selling or giving accounts to others is a violation of the games' rules. Therefore you won't be able to keep the account.

All information related to the discovery and disciplining of an account will only be discussed between the possible violator and the customer support. If we do find any rules to be broken, you will not hear of any rulings related to the incident and the account(s) involved."

Your involvement should now be seen as an aid to Anet support, and not a person to be banned. Smart move.

Smart move indeed. Original post made me think it was at best a horrible prank, at worst someone ditching a stolen account now that he's done with it, leaving the incriminating evidence in Op's hands.

Btw, you could always add the name of the chars still on the account(if you remember them) to your friends list, if you want to get the full story later.
