I don't know about the spears, but the fireworks come from the Disco Ball that you can get from Nicholas the Traveler's "Gift of the Traveler."

And the spears you see are probably the Zaishen Rank Emote.

Well, the fireworks are from the new Disco Balls (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Disco_Ball) that folks are getting from the new Traveler NPC (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Nicholas_the_Traveler)

The spearing people thing is likely folks spamming their Zaishen rank (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_rank) to make the emote appear to hit another player.

Those are the only specific things you mentioned, so I'm not sure if it covers everything striking you as odd.

Oh, and over the past week or so, some towns were decorated and had fireworks for the 4th anniversary celebration. I think that's done now, though.

Disco balls do not do any firework animation. it has an inaccurate desription on the icon. Wiki states the disco ball is the only animation for that particular gift. crates of fireworks poppers and rockets etc are what ya see.

Cronk

ps.. above posted what the spear thing you speak of is.

Disco balls definetly cause a fireworks display in towns(just like the ones from the crates)

There is even a message in the All Chat its something like "Player Joe has started a fireworks display"

then i stand corrected. i was goin by the official wiki pageon the traveler. under disco ball they have a updated description of what it does. BUT as is often the case wiki must be wrong. They need to chage it on GW.com as well. they have the same description to the letter on guildwars.com

Cronk.'

thanks for the correction.

"Despite saying it creates a fireworks display, only the ball is shown. " - unofficial guildwiki

this is the exact reason u use BOTH wiki's. some1 has obviously made a mistake with this as it doesn't appear on the official wiki.

maybe some1 tried /dancenew then some1 saw the disco ball and assumed they used the consumable item? :/

The official wiki says a three minute fireworks display.

The spears are from Zaishen I think, /rank or something in towns/outposts, my zaishen rank is only 1, I get a plank of wood with a nail in it zooming from the sky :S.

I have collectors Edition NF, thats how I got discoball Derv and the maniacal Paragon boogie

Also, there are people who are using items called Tonics, which is why there are some people in towns that look like monsters and such.

Keep in mind there are a LOT of flashy things going on right now due to the recent updates from the 4th aniversary of Guild Wars this week. Stuff will probablly calm down a bit down the line.
