Thumbs up Think i'll get banned for this?

Think i'll get banned for posting 'guildwarsguru.com' in local chat?

Friend was asking me how i knew XTH was getting closed while i was spamming wtb messages, replied to him 'guildwarsguru.com', then accidentally up-enter'd in local chat and low and behold THREE carebears invite and quickly cancel, clearly to report me.

Think i'll get banned? Common sense says no, but i've been banned for the most absolutely ridiculous things on earth before so i can't help but wonder.

Totally legit question btw.

This site is listed as one of their elite fansites on their main site and the official wiki. It's been a widely recognized GW resource for a lot longer than there's been an official wiki. You are far from the first person to direct other players here.

I'll be incredibly surprised if a GM decides to ban you for that. They have rules and posted guidelines about not advertising websites for buying gold, botting, porn, etc., but I don't think there's really a rule that you can't list *any* website at all. Given their history of not running their own forums and rather referring folks to elite fansites, it seems to me you could easily argue your case against any ban you got for showing a link to this site.

what? HELL NO. if you do get banned, then you are the hands of an incompetent staff member. Screenshot it all if you want proof too. Those who abuse the system should have it backfire on them. And maybe you didn't know, but this site is listed on GuildWars.com as like as "Gold" under community links or something. Those who were reporting were probably trolling.

I'd say you're fine, and even if you did get banned, it would quickly be reversed.

Funny to see 3 idiots try that but also sad.
The amount of people ive seen as well as myself who say to ppl about guru and pvxwiki - if anet banned us they`d have a drop of about 10 - 20% of players online who are banned.
Personally i wouldnt worry or if your still concerned you could either put a post up for regina stating your concern and can she verify the rules or email support with same query and get it in writing.

Those 3 idiots should be doing something constructive like reporting the bots in bergen or reporting the account and gold sellers.

People aren't helped with a 'guildwarsguru.com' in local chat. If someone asks about the points, sent them a PM cointaining the link to the very thread. Saves them searching for 15 minutes and ultimately give up.

I don't see the logic in why anybody would even bother reporting you for posting 'guildwarsguru.com' in local chat , unless of course you were spamming it,sometimes i really dispair at the type of people who play these type of games, its not as if they gain anything from reporting anyways even if you were doing some wrong, which you weren't.

Well you certainly shouldn't get banned.

It was probably people who have no idea what the site is and thought it was a gold selling site or something. lol.

Well, pretty sure the EULA says you can't promote websites in all chat, and concidering Anet has more often than not proven they ban for redicilous causes, it's plausible you will get banned.

Unlikely, but plausible. I would't worry, tough, as for them to ban someone for posting an elite fansite, they would have they sink just one more level lower. (Which I doubt is even possible)

Anyways, in doubt, the general rule of the thumb:

Anything you type in all-chat can get you banned, it's just matter of how likely it will.

Accidents happen and its really easy to click on the wrong tab and send the message to general chat so no you will not get banned.

Spamming it 20 times in 2 minutes could cause offence and get a ban or warning of some kind.

Common sense still prevails even in GW.

Well, last night it seems the news finally made it up on to the homepage of GuildWars.com. So more people should be informed of it by now.

And yes, it's been on the GuildWarsGuru.com homepage for 2 days now so directing them to just the main homepage was okay. I imagine a lot of our frequent posters bypass the main page entirely and come straight to the forums.

Hope you don't get banned Gift3d.

In the event that you DO get banned (which i highly doubt), just email support or use the online support system...And tell them the story, which should get the ban (which you prob wont get) lifted.
