Question New to the game...Assassin question

Well i just started guild wars after hearing so many good things about it. My first character choice was assassin I was recommended to use warrior as my secondary but as hard as I try i cant find a guide for A/W builds. Take into mind that I am 100% new to the game and its my third day playing, I need help building this character. Its current lvl is 12 and should i just ditch it and try a new assassin from scratch, and if so how should i build it for farming because im still new and need a way of making money. Help please?

First of all, there is no reason to ditch a character like that. Later in the game, you can change your secondary. So, your A/W can later be a A/Me or A/E and change back and forth, for free, at any time.

Second, you are an assassin first and formost. You will likely find you will be using mostly just assassin skills to start out with, plus maybe a few warrior defensive skills at level 12.
The idea of a secondary is to use your secondary to help supplement your primary profession. Not replace it. So if you only using 1 or 2 or even none of your skills from your secondary, that is okay. This is especially true for most of the physical damage classes, who are mostly more self-sufficient. You shouldn't be using a sword or hammer as an assassin. Instead, use daggers. You are an assassin first.

You are still early enough in this game to play around with and experiment on your own. The skills you use don't need to be particularly good. Just make sure to have a full party at all times and to upgrade your armor when appropriate. You can skip every other armor upgrade, don't spend too much money off the bat upgrading every chance you get, since you'll get access to max armor relatively quickly, and it will help if you have money saved up to buy that right away.

First Off.. Welcome To Guildwars!

Anyways, Assasins Are Great As Pve Char's Without Needing Much From The Secondary Classes.. And I Wouldnt Worry About Builds Too Much If your Only Lvl12,

And.. Assasin's Main Farming Skill (Shadow Form) Is Getting 'Nerfed' Soon So I Wouldnt Place Your Hopes Too Much On The Farming.
If You Need Any Help Shout Me At --> Mercy Wildblood

Hope It Helps.

1) It's almost always a bad idea to delete a char just to restart it. You can change secondaries later on, and you'll just have to waste money to rebuy skills.

2)The only W skill you need as an assassin is is Flurry for the increased attack speed, and even then it's not necessary if you have NF so that you can get Critical Agility. Rely entirely on sin skills. Builds that put too much stock in their secondary profession usually suck.

3)split your attribute points evenly between daggers/shadow arts/critical strikes.

4)Abuse Shroud of Distress. It's buggy, but it's the best assassin defense skill you'll have access to for quite a while.

5) Look for NPC's in town that have [Armor] next to their names. Those will craft armor for you. Max armor for sins is 70, and you can buy those in Kanieng Center. It'll cost you about 10k in materials and gold. Since it's your first time, worry about farming later and concentrate on getting max armor. The quests in Fac have decent payoffs. just keep doing those for the money you need. Consider salvaging for the materials.

What you really need to do is just play the game.

Best piece of advice I can give any new player is to hoard your cash and don't waste it upgrading your armour constantly.
Use collectors armour till you hit maximum for your character class then go for the armour style you like the look of.
Weapons, again use collectors offerings and those that drop from your victims.
Sell everything your not going to use yourself and keep the cash till you need it later in the game.

Run a few characters get to know the skills yourself because its really the only way to understand how the skills work together.
You could be given someone else's idea of a perfect build and it still might not work for you and your style of play.

Many skills will be available much later in the game or indeed in other guild wars games.
Please don't try to run before you can walk, just go slow and enjoy the game.
The pve part of the game is designed to teach you as you play so follow the storyline.

The assassin is a great hit and run merchant and your perfectly designed to take out single targets quickly.
Shadow form lets you emulate a tank and stay in close combat, but it can go horribly wrong if you don't know exactly what your doing.

'Lo Jacob, welcome to Guild Wars! Bit confusing for all of us when we started out, lot of game here. My small contribution.

Go back to a starting area and get a small no attribute required longbow. It will not have a marksmanship requirement and will do tiny damage, maybe 8 or so max. The damage is not important. Put that in weapons slot 4. You do not need a Ranger secondary to use a little bow like this.

If the battle ahead looks tough (and they will be when you hit the mainland) start combat with the longbow, couple or three shots until your party has taken aggro. Then switch to daggers and go in. Let your hench tank take the heavy initial attack from the mobs. Assassins are not built to do that. Assassins "strike from the shadows" as it were and do very high damage. Longbow is also useful for pulling so you only get one group of enemies to fight.

Double clicking on the name of a party member will cause your assassin to run to that party member.

Stay mobile. Don't let the mobs gang up on you.

Farming ... well, you do not have to be full up and running a real farming build. Try early levels now and then solo and see if you can take the beasties down. Check ink prices, black and white inks are worth quite a bit. If you keep farming casual and fun you will like it.

I agree that you dont have to ditch a character because you choose the wrong 2nd profession, but getting a new prof is usually not free...

In Factions you can buy extra 2nd professions in Senji's corner (after doing the Naphui Quarters mission), but you have to pay 500g for each profession.

Same goes for Nightfall (you can do this in Command Post, after doing a certain quest)...

The only campagin where it is free is Prophecies, but you only can get core professions as 2nd profession (you need to do a quest to unlock it).

Once you get it unlocked (which is really a nominal fee), you can change for free (ie, you don't have to pay EVERY time, like you would in most MMOs).
