Talking New Person Help

I used to play GW long ago, close to the time when it came out. I just recently came back to my level 20 Elementalist and my level 18 (now 20) Assassin and got to playing again. I never really knew how to be one of those top players, as it was only a game I played on the side. I have completed the Prophecies Campaign and am ascended on my Elementalist. I'm not quite yet ascended on my Assassin. Now before I get off track, how am I supposed to get started and get great stuff and such?

please don't bump every 20 minutes.

to answer your question, i would focus on completing all 3 campaigns (plus expansion). after that you can check out the elite missions, or ask around for farm builds (www.pvxwiki.com) if your into farming, or try title hunting (open up your title screen by pressing 'h' on your keyboard).

if its pvp your interested in, i would recommend finding a decent pvp guild to help you out.

There have been many changes to the game since Factions (assassin prof) was released. You can read all the updates on the wiki (which is now available in-game through F10 or Help on menu or typing /wiki in chat bar) or you can start a new character and play as if the game was new.

The only way to get high-end (vanity only) weapons or items is to earn gold through play or farming. Once you complete the campaign, there is now a Hard Mode which allows you to vanquish areas. Each completed vanquish awards gold. An Ele is very good for farming. Check the pvxwiki for common farming builds. http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Everyone has different opinions I'm sure about what makes a "Top" player, for me it's someone I enjoy doing missions/quests with, the flipside is a whiney elitist little brat that I do anything to avoid. For great stuff, check wiki....http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Armor

You can also find a page for unique and gold weapons, most people though prove their unoriginality and 'Liteness' by sporting a Tormented Shield & Voltaic Spear. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though
