Can't sign in, scared
Ok, I can't sign into either my or my brother's accounts. I could log into them about an hour ago, but now it says that my account information is incorrect. I have not done anything like use gold buying/selling sites or responded to those phishing emails or downloaded any third-party programs that could cause this. I'm really scared, and my question is: is there any possible reason, any reason at all that this could be happening besides me getting hacked? Also, both of our NCSoft accounts were inaccessable too. I managed to use the lost password thingie with the security questions to get back the NCsoft password for my brother, but he hasn't yet gotten the email with his new password.
Please is there anything I can do right now? I hate sitting around wondering what's happening. Please, I'm panicking. Any information any of you have would be helpful. |

if the info is incorrect and you are 100% sure you are using the right info, and its not giving you like "you've been banned for x amount of hrs or perma banned" you can preety much bet you've been hacked.
srry to break it to yah. try adn contact anet and get ur info reset and try and exsplain u might have been hacked. could be uve been banned or some shizen so yea if u give us ur error code it could be useful :P |

Send an email to [email protected] and put ACCOUNT HACKED in the subject line. In the message give them account name and your access keys. You don't need to supply the password. Send a separate email for each account.

Yeah, I was absolutely not banned. It's code 227. It says "we don't recognize your account information". And my stuff is absolutely typed correctly, so that's not the problem.
The thing is, whoever changed my password also changed my NCsoft information. My brother said that the only way they could change the password is through NCsoft, so is it possible that it's someone who hacked my NCsoft account and changed my password? If so, they can't know my character name, so they can't actually sign in and take stuff, is that right? I mean, wasn't that the whole point of adding the Character Name security question? Is there any chance I'm still ok? |

are you sure you aren't typing a character name from the other account?
side note: they tell you not to share accounts for a reason. (i.e. logging on a brother's account) |

Also, my brother tried signing in on both on his computer, so it's not a problem with my gw file or computer or anything. |

Your not perma banned because apparently they have Dhuum reap you right before they lock you out.
The only way I could see someone getting banned in your case is if you xferred like 500e or something from your brother's acct into yours for no reason. In which case the way forward is to... Just do what everyone is saying and contact Anet. |

Yes, I've checked for caps lock and every other possible reason that it could be spelled incorrectly. My information was changed, on both the NCsoft site and on my actual game account. I have not transferred large amounts of anything (I've never even come close to having 500e at any point in my 4 years of playing, lol). I rarely transfer anything between the accounts, and when I do, it's just like a few minor runes or something.
I have never violated the TOS in any way, and the only other "third party" program I've used is TexMod for cartographer, which Anet has explicitly condoned. Never bought from gold-selling sites, never botted or any of that stuff. So that's not the problem. I have contacted support, and they said "In order to better assist you with this account, I will transfer this question to our Account Support Team. Someone will be in contact with you as soon as possible." I haven't heard anything since then. I just hate sitting around feeling helpless. I don't even know what was taken. Also, one thing I'm scared of, and I don't know if it's irrational: were there ever any incidents any of you know of where the hacker also deleted the characters after stripping them, for any reason? (Like for spite or something, I dunno). Because stuff can always be gotten back, but the 4 years I've spent on my chars and titles can't. |

If you are unable to log in to either the game or your NCSoft account, your only alternative is to wait for support. Good luck. Do not tell them that either of the accounts are shared. Last edited by MisterB; Jul 08, 2010 at 08:53 PM // 20:53.. |

Deleting characters is rare or nvr done i think, usually only usefull valuable things r taken.
EDIT: ok, according to MisterB it can happen. I was gonna say, that i have had often enough at first try GW gives an error the login info is incorrect. I prolly made a typo i guess, cos second try with paying xtra attention i get the login info correct. But u mention your NCsoft account is also inaccesible. Uhm, the problem may have started there. If i recall correctly, security for NCsoft accounts is worse. |

Erm, is there a reason not to tell them that the accounts are shared? Just curious.
