create a shortcut of gw.exe and put -image after the existing path.

http://www.guildwiki.org/-image#-image thats how to use the -image command - its best to have an extra shortcut to gw with the -image preset , you can easily use after every update.

And remember that it will take about 4 hours minimum, so do it while you sleep.

Just to be clear, Darcy means the first time. Doing this for future updates will be much, much faster.

Unless they have changed things drastically in W7, either right click your existing icon, click on Properties and edit the Target or create a new icon from your gw.exe and change it. Until I started using GW MultiLaunch, I kept two icons so that with any update I could just click on my renamed Update icon and download it completely.

@BladeDVD - thanks for adding that.

Press the Windows Key (Start) and R together to get a Run Dialog.

Then type (with quotes)
Code:
"C:\Programs Files\GuildWars\Gw.exe" -image
Or Program Files(x86) if it's installed there instead.

Sorry typing from work, couldn't recall if there was a Space in GuildWars or not.

The Link bit shouldn't be needed though, just use GW.exe.

Using My Computer or Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder where GW is installed. Right-click on the file "gw.exe" and select "Send To" and then "Desktop (Create Shortcut). That will make a regular shortcut on your desktop that you can edit the "Target" line to add "-image". A typical Target line would look like:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe"

Add the image command at the end, outside of the quotes, as in:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -image
