Default Tips for Legendary Skill Hunter

Hi umm, I'm just wondering if you guys could offer me any tips for Legendary Skill Hunter.

In what order should I cap the skills? Do I go area by area and cap whatever skills the bosses in that area have? Or do I cap skills according to each profession first? When capping skills by profession do I cap it alphabetically?

Are there any websites that have a checklist to tick which skills you have aquired and which ones you still need?

Lastly I'd like to know if there are any skill maps for Factions, Prophecies and EotN similar to this map for Nightfall. Thanks!

When I did it, I bought all the signets all at once. Then used Guildwiki (they have a list of each elite) to figure out which elites I didn't have for each profession. I went about it the way Guildwiki has the elites categorized. First by core, then Proph, Factions, Nightfall. Figured out which boss was easiest to get and if their green was worthwhile. And went through the professions, ie Warrior core, Mesmer core, Ele core... It made it easier to parcel up and work on.

I think the ones I didn't like doing the most were some of the Proph ones where the only place to get the elite is by killing a boss in one of the final missions. It was a drag because sometimes the boss doesn't spawn.

Start here. Personally, I capped by profession. It helped me keep track of which ones I had already capped. Some like to cap by zone, but that can get confusing over the course of 250+ elites.

Also, I strongly recommend using elite tomes on the skills that have random spawns (Prophecies) if you can. It's not that they're incredibly difficult, but it'll certainly lower the frustration level if you're able to tome it.

I just started with the easy ones. After that I just went by profession, but left the harder to reach ones for last. If you get a lot of the easy ones it at least makes you feel like you're making good progress

Going profession by profession isn't a bad way to go. Start with the core skills and then go from there. One thing I'd highly recommend is going after any Prophecies skills you can in EotN explorable areas, as those bosses are always there.

Doing a little research on each skill to find the easiest / fastest place to cap it will save quite a bit of time, because some options (when there are any) are much faster than others.

I started with my primary profession and my 2ndary (this was back before changing)....and in prophecies (when new chapters came out I got all the skills for my primary and 2ndary then--was easier to pick up the extras later).
If I were to start it today, I would do primary first--doesnt matter which chapter--though I would check spawns on some of the harder prophecies ones (some now have bosses in eye--makes it easier to cap); then I would pick a 2ndary do to--most likely one of the core since they have the most to cap.
I would do dervish and paragon last since they have the least amount to cap....

If I had other characters that had already unlocked the skills then getting some of elite tomes would be easier than getting some of the caps. (some are just too easy to waste a tome on).

The prophecies bosses are going to be the hardest to cap since sometimes they dont spawn or they have multiple spawn points....and I found perdition rock to be the most annoying since you can only have 3 pve skills (if you are doing primary and 2ndary--then there are some professions that have more than 3 elites there).

If you like to pvp you can use your balthazar faction to unlock some of the harder elites and then get the elite tome.

Hmm alright, thanks everyone. Anyway I started capping the core skills first. I'll probably switch to go by profession after that.

By the way, is there any checklist for Elite skills so I can keep track of which skills that I've already captured? I tried Googling for it but most of them are all broken links.

I usually go over it one area at a time, capping all profession elites there. But going for all elites from one profession is a way to go too of course, whichever you prefer.

In any case, this list comes close to your checklist. I myself printed it out because I like to cross out freshly capped skills and areas I don't need to go back to : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/List_...pture_location

When I went for the Legendary Skill Hunter title on my main character, I used Zennon's Guild Wars Elite Skill Listing with Maps page, located here.

But for my Rit character I have decided I needed something that:
  1. Can easily track the elites she already has/capped and
  2. Quickly locate the bosses to cap the elites she is missing.
For this reason, I have created an elite skill cap checklist + GW wiki tool for quickly pulling elite skills pages. I went as far as choosing the skill cap locations of bosses with the following in mind:
  1. Quicker or easier access to elite skill bosses from towns and outposts
  2. Town/outposts access is chosen over Missions/WiK content/quests whenever possible
  3. Survivor-friendly (when possible)
You can find this package in the Community Works section here.

When I was doing this title, I've done in in order Cantha->Elona->Tyria.
The fastest way was doing it profession by profession, using wiki.
Having EotN might be really helpful, since some elites with hard-to-get-to bosses are duplicated by EotN bosses (except for these in dungeons :x).

Funny part is, that with capping all elites in all campaigns, the bosses looted only 3 or 4 greens for me.

As Ultimate Flash linked, Mapping Out is great for this. It lets you record which skills you have and gives you maps of where to get the skills you still need.

I found it easiest to do by profession as it did away with the problem of having the wrong secondary. Also, no joke, make sure you check the following each time you go out:

1. Have EQUIPPED the cap sig.
2. Have the CORRECT secondary
3. Don't already have that elite

It is very common and very frustrating to kill a boss only to find that you skipped one of those steps.

I tended to do caps area by area where possible to take advantage of places where I could use 2 sigs and cap a primary and secondary profession elite in one run.

I also left Maw until last for no other reason than it seemed appropriate

Combine vanquishing with your Luxon/Kurzick/Sunspear/LB/reputation titles and leave bosses in the area until last(especially bonuses in EOTN), this will give you a greater bonus for the kill towards title tracks and +1 skill.

Thanks everybody for everything. I spent about 6 hours capping about 60 skills today. I then started thinking about it and I came to the conclusion that it'll probably require far less effort to farm for FoW armor.

So yea, gonna ditch the whole title hunter track and continue farming Glints. Thanks for your help everyone.
