Question its green the best?

Morning ppl!
OK, first I just have a couple months playing GW.

Im really confused of gear levels, I know that it comes in white, blue, yellow (orange or gold), purple and green; so far I have a couple greens and some other colors, am unsure if green are the best item for my chars of heroes? Because so far, I have found that for certain build the best gear is a blue item (grim cesta for 55 monk)

Its green the bes item for my chars? My main is Necro/Mesmer.
Thanks in advance.

Overall, it doesn't really matter, as long as the stats are max.
I've had blue weapons that could be modded to "max", and collector/crafter/bonus weapons have max mods although they're blue.
You can get max damage purple items that you can mod to be "perfect" (although purples can sometimes come with less-than-max inherent mods).
Greens are always "max", but the mods might not be what you want and the mods can't be changed. (Keiran's Bow is an exception.)
Golds are the most versatile - they can be easily modded and re-modded. Max golds with rare skins are the most valuable.

Even a blue item, given it has the desired mods (or is inscribable) and has max stats, is useful. The same useful as a gold weapon with the same stats/mods.

Greens are the most useful for cost-effectiveness. You tend to collect them as you play and they are usually very useful.
There are a few combinations that you can't find in a green, and in those cases you should use any max dmg weapon and add the necessary components. It doesn't necessarily have to be a gold. Collector weapons will do nicely and they are only blues.

Most golds are not worth much, check the Ventari's corner here on GWG to get a good idea on which ones are valuable. Those are not any better in effectiveness (except those with low requirements, q8 max weapons are very valuable)

There is no best stat wise as long as its max damage and the mods are max. Plus:
Green: always same stats, always drops from same monsters and easier to obtain
Gold: may not drop with max stats, can drop from a variety of monsters.
What I'm trying to get across there is that greens are usually farmed because people know where to get them, and certain gold items can drop from many things and if it does drop now you have to hope its max/low req/good mods

It depends about how much you wanna invest in weapons. If you don't have a lot , then it's obvious , greens are cheap ( eventually easy to obtain) , some have nice skins and it's imo always fun to see something with green letters dropping....
If you want best flashy weapons such as crystallines or voltaic spear , then you will have to invest much.....

What i would suggest you is : invest a certain amount in some flashy weapons ( why not a Q13 Voltaic with ametyst aegis , it won't cost you a lot ) , and get your main sets and heroes weapons green items ( or gold weapons you drop along the game).
For example , remember that bogroot staffs and murakai axes are worth almost nothing , but though are perfect for a ritualist and for a warrior....

Each of my toons has a variety of gear options, which includes armor pieces. For example, an elementalist has a different "hat" to boost each attribute, then has some weapons (staff and/or wand + offhand) of various attributes, plus more generic staves based on energy storage that can be used with most builds.

Likewise a ranger has bows of various types and attributes: Flat bow, recurve bow, +Dazed, +15%>50, etc. Similar story for warrior.

So there is no "best". What is best is the gear that suits the build being used at the moment, and that typically varies.

so no, not really.
I have plenty of blue or collector weapons that are just as good as purple or gold---if they are max and have other stats that you want (or are inscribable) then it matters not the color of the weapon.

Yeah the blue item in question was from a quest "the Cities of ascalon" which is mainly useful because the 55 build. This in essence is about minimising your health whilst protecting your self (5 damage using prot spirit) and attacking back.
Yeah most weapons don't make much difference but this is probably one of the only reasons for the item being 'better'...just a gimmick really

any color except white is good for you and heros. the "type" and money wise is the only differences with them.

Also, make sure you meet the weapon's requirement. Otherwise, you'll do less damage (much less for greens and collector weapons). You can view the wiki page for more information about that: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Weapons
