Default Mecenary Hero questions

I have some questions to players who purchased the Mecenary heroes.

1) Is the limit to Merc hero slots 8? Or can I have 11 slots by buying another 3 slots? I have 10 characters and would like to add them all.

2) Will my Merc heroes use the same armor and coloring as my characters? For me, it'd be pointless to purchase Merc heroes if I can't use my favorite armors.

3) How are equipments and runes handled? Do I have to buy these physical items and apply them just like normal heroes? Or is this handled like PVP heroes?

Thanks.

1) 8 merc slots is the limit.

2) mercs will have the armor and coloring that your character has when creating the merc. if you want to change the merc armor/color, you have to delete the merc, change your character appearance to what you want, then re-create the merc.

3) i have no idea, good question

2) Yes and no, As you can see from the following screenshots, not all pieces dye exactly the same as your template characters' armor.

3) Equipped items do not carry over from your template character.
Runes work as hero runes do, you will need to buy separate runes for each new mercenary.

Limit is 8, but they are changeable so be like 1 month these doods, next month these other doods.

hero armor dont break, only need expert salvage kit; dirt cheap.

I just wish that the skins for your character's weapons and shield / focus would have carried over. 'Generic Max Item' with no prefix/suffic/inscription, so that when you go out into the field, they have something to use.

That's really my only complaint out of all of this.

Ok, so I'm a bit confused. Everything says the max number is 8 mercenary hero slots. But why 8? Isn't 8 the maximum party number? So wouldn't you need 7 hero slots + yourself to form a full party? Maybe that is what it actually means but the way it is worded makes it seem like you are paying for a slot you will never use.

8 is max number of mercenaries you can buy, but yes 7 is the max heroes you can use at once.

You can't take a merc hero based on your current char with you - no "me and mini me" in the group. So, if your current char is one of the 8 merc heroes you've registered, you can only select from the 7 other mercs for grouping with your char.

So 8 slots = ensuring you actually have 7 still to select on a registered character.

Yes - but you could do that already, using either a second account or using a henchman of the class you wanted extras of. Merc heroes do not replace your existing heroes, they're in addition to them.

every character on your account (excluding the template toon with the same name as the hero) will be able to use all custom mercenaries. (each character will still have to rune and equip each merc separately though)

Interesting. This means that each merc slot (just like heroes) has multiple states which are instanced/linked per each char.

I would have expected mercs to be instanced only once per account. I guess they prefer to let people put different weps/runes/builds on each instance. With the implicit downside that you actually have to get weps/runes for every instance.

So, along with paying real money for the mercenaries, you must also fork out your in-game gold to rune and equip them?

We're paying all that money for a 'skin'?

You're only paying money for it if you feel it's worth it

Curious as well with a question.

So when we copy them over, armor wise, is it exactly the same? So if I had a character that wore no chest armor or leg armor and only boots and gloves and a helmet, would my hero have no chest or leg armor? Or would they put some on them?

Basically, if you copied a naked toon over, would you have a naked hero? Weird question I know.

Your mercenary heroes always have complete maximum armor, regardless of what they wore at the moment of registration. If you registered him naked, he would have a naked appearance as hero but with maximum armor rating on all armor pieces.
