Default Things You Wish You Would've Known

Hello again,

If you were to start GW all over again, with all the things you know now, what would you have done differently? As a new GW player I just learned about the Legendary Defender of Ascalon title & am curious if there is any other content which is available for a limited time.

Are there missions that have secret objectives that if you miss them the first time you cannot try them again? Or rewards that are only available once per play through etc?

Thanks for your time & sorry for all my silly questions this week. GW is alot different than the other MMO's I have played. The community thus far has been VERY helpful & thats not something Im used to.

Yes, I wish I would have had a clue regarding the Pre Gwen series of events leading up to getting a Tapestry Shred.

Once I did find out about it.. every char save one has been bugged, and unfortunately I chose to do the Rose Focus.. which has an alternative way in post to get the quest.

I would like the flute, just to have it.. but, I cannot get Gwen to work in Pre, and they removed the Tattered cape from Stingray.. so, I doubt I ever will.

Besides ldoa and anything else found in pre, there shouldn't be anything you will lose by passing it the first time (as far as I know) and ofc. with those you can alway make a new char and do it with that one.

Do I wish I knew about ldoa when I started gw? not really, I enjoyed my first steps in gw, exploring and learning one thing at a time.

I wish I had known I was wasting my time finding all the chests in presearing, when I could have leveled faster and gotten to the REAL treasures in the desert and other farming areas. I thought I was SOO clever staying in pre a little longer and taking advantage of all the free loot. *sigh*

Hahah good times - at least you got there eventually and who wouldn't mind spending some extra time in good ol' pre-searing before leaving forever?? I wish I had known what was coming (the first time I played GW I was totally in the dark to the searing surprise) and stayed a bit longer in pre-searing Ascalon.

Edit: Some other things I regret are not taking particular hero quests over others... since there are a few cases where they are optional or you have to choose between one or the other... and i ended up having a strange mixmash of heroes throughout most of Nightfall until I could go back and get the coveted Norgu etc etc.

Not doing missions w/ bonus and keeping one character.

I started a few months after the game came out and I never kept a character for 2 years :S

Exploring all missions.

But, I did like doing the game with no sense of direction only to come back and remember the good times playing.

I'd have to say no, there's nothing I wished I'd known sooner.

I wished I knew what all the stackable for the baby moa bird were so I did not need to farm them while getting the pet!

I wished I knew that the last 2nd mission in Nightfall wasn't as hard as it said in wiki so I did not wait for months before I attempted it.

I wished I knew that doing cartographer title is a super boring and painful process.

I wished I knew that an elementalist isn't the best choice for higher end pve contents.

Oh: And I wished I knew that paying once to change your secondary means that the new secondary is already in the scroll down bar the next time you need it! XD

I wish I would've known (on that distant day) that merchant prices were reset so that all materials/rare materials to 100g. I could've made a ton of money that day.

The second time you switch to the same secondary at the profession changer you don't pay. So you only paid once for each secondary in any case.

This, lol...

Anyway, I wish I knew all the item nerfs/updates like Party animal, Zaishen Title track etc, could've made me some good money.

Also, wish I started playing this game earlier, with all the knowledge I have now (about uncods, q7 items etc) also could've made me some nice cash..

Things You Wish You Would've Known...
  • the existence of both wikis.
  • the proper placement of runes/Insignia on your armour.
  • the trade value of what most players would considered be rare or high-end items today.
  • about the chest in Dreadnought's Drift.
  • to leave at least one character in Pre-Seering.
  • to play a Rit character sooner.
  • the nerf to the desert Minotaur farming was coming.
  • to choose Master of Whispers over Margrid the Sly (to get that proper sabway team build).
  • know when to get on Ring of Fortune sooner to evenly build up both Lucky/Unlucky titles.
