Default How to get a Ritualist to Nightfall

Hi, I'm new to the game and I'm having trouble finding information. I want to play a Ritualist and already made him and got him up to 10. But I'd love to start collecting heroes. How do I get him to the nightfall campaign and would that even work? Would I have quests and be able to buy armor and skills? Or should I just make do with henchman until I take this guy to EotN?

In Kaineng Center look for Imperial Guardsman Linro to gain the quest. Here is a link to the wiki's Campaign Travel page. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Campaign_Travel This is not an easy quest as it is assumed you will be closer to level 20 by the time you reach KC. You cannot travel from Factions until you have completed the Shing Jea Island portion of the campaign.

You will enter the story of Nightfall after the tutorial point. From there you will pick up a quest line to take you through Nightfall.

It would work. Some part of the story will be told in retrospect, but everything after Istan will be the same for you as for a Nightfall-born character.

You will be able to acquire quests, skills and heroes, however there is only a small selection of armor available for Rit's and Assa's in Nightfall. (Vabbian and Ancient).

You can't jump over the main storyline in Shing Jea. At the minimum, there's a chain of primary quests you have to do to get to the mainland, period. But rushing through that will do you no service, since as mentioned above, both mainland Cantha content and Elona for foreign characters will assume you are close to level 20. Heroes or not, you would have a tough time going on at level 10.

Also, make sure not to miss the extra attribute point missions, both of which are on Shing Jea island for Canthan characters; and don't forget Ascension aka Weh No Su, IMHO doing so in Factions is quicker than in Nightfall.

Ascension in nightfall (the quest Hunted!) is really early in nightfall compared to factions, but it only counts as ascension for nightfall characters, so yeah get closer to the stars in factions is best.

This is what i usually do when starting in factions:
1: lvl up to lvl 11 by doing all the secondary profession quests
2: follow the primairy quest line to the main land (lvl 14 by then)
3: get hero's in Eye of the north and nightfall
4: do the secondairy kaineng center quests to lvl up to 20
5: do the bonus attribute quests
6: do the two missions to get closer to the stars in factions
7: whatever I wanna do I do then

Just a couple of suggestions.

The point in the game where you can travel to nightfall is also the same point at which you could go to eotn or prophecies. If your goal is to acquire heroes etc, your best bet will be to make a quick detour to eotn before nightfall. If you go as far as the eye of the north tower and the hall of monuments you will have 3 level 20 heroes (4 if you pick up mox too - he will be right outside kc so he will be on your way to the chasm). Then pick up max armor either at kaineng center or at the first outpost in eotn. That should set you up nicely to continue with whichever campaign you wish to play.

I'm guessing it's faster to level to 20 doing the secondary Kaineng quests than it is by doing Shing Jea fully?

Still, I think I'll stick to the latter. This way when you get to Kaineng you're 20 or very close to it. I prefer it this way even if it takes a bit longer, because running around Shing Jea is much nicer than running around Kaineng, plus I can't stand those secondary quests where you have to backtrack a million times.

Yes, but keep in mind that the heroes you are picking up won't be level 20. It would be nice to get them right away so you can use those KC quests to level them up to 20 alongside you. I would advise going to Nightfall, doing the Time for Heroes Quest (so you can get to the Consulate Docks to get Olias), and then going back to KC to knock out a bunch of high reward quests.

Always be sure you have your sub-level 20 heroes in your party when you accept quest rewards (they get the experience too).

Thanks for helping me to clear this up. I lot of what you guys said makes absolutely no sense to me at all right now, but I've written down key words to look for and then I will refer back to here.

Yes, I hadn't considered the need to level up the NF heroes...

(BTW it's "A land for heroes", the "A time for heroes" is different, that's the EotN final.)

Another tip: consider capping an elite skill during that quest. They can be obtained elsewhere, but you'd need to go deeper into the NF mainland/story line for that.

To the OP: try searching the wiki.

Thanks, yes, LAND of Heroes.

I know what you are saying about the elite skill. I'm always looking at the elites and saying, "nah, I'll never use those" and then months later when I decide to do my skill hunter title I regret not grabbing an easy cap. (Plus you will get 5000 experience when you do the cap!)

BTW, that Land of Heroes quest has a cheat...err....undocumented exploit (it's on the wiki). If you just ignore Kormir and the first wave of attackers, you can walk all the way to the back side of the beach and just clear the camps of foes (be sure to get the group in the far side with the boss). The mission will end. It's really fast and easy.

The better "exploit" of Land of Heroes is to push your Sunspear points up to 1000 doing this easy quest. You automatically get buffs to gain 4 or 8 Sunspear points per kill from every enemy type without talking to any shrine. Don't skip this opportunity!

Just start fighting and /resign before the quest is completed. Redo it until you reached 1000 Sunspear points and only then complete the quest (you will not get points beyond 1000).

AFAIR I didn't find reaching r6 a big chore as a foreign character, no need to grind. Simply doing the quests up to and including Consulate Docks usually does it for me, or gets you very close. Not to mention that doing Docks opens access to Kourna, which can be useful for capping certain skills, getting certain greens, more heroes etc.

If you absolutely must grind some more, there are far more efficient places. For instance there's a shrine with an insect bounty right outside the exit from Yohlon Heaven into Arkjok Ward, plus 2 big groups of insects. Takes 1-2 minutes per run and gives 96 points.
