If I bought Guild Wars: Trilogy would i be able to play throughout the whole story as an Assassin? Or would i only be able to play it through Factions campaign?

You can play it all as an Assassin, but you would have to create it in Factions and then once you get to the right place, you can open up travel to Prophecies, Nightfall, and Eye of the North.

Yes, but Complete Collection or Trilogy + EotN is HIGHLY recommended.

You should have a look at how much goes Trilogy + EotN or Complete Collection for in your country and then decide if buy or not.

Each campaign game has a start area of the game designed to guide you as to how the game plays.

You can start in any game and play right through the entire campaign series, but you have to appreciate some of the other games start area content is either unavailable or of such low level it will be a walkover.

You cross between the games by boat once you get access to a port city.

If you plan to gw2 too (not released yet) it is recommended that you buy the "eye of the north" expansion too... it contains the hall of moments, an instance where you can store your achievements. The first 30 points give you bonus stuff in gw2.

An assassin is a good choice. Good farmer later.

You will start in Factions. Once you finish Factions, Hard Mode will be available so you can go to Nightfall and experience its starting area in a challenging mode. But not Prophecies. The starting area there is not accessible from outside; and once Prophecies characters leave their starting area they can never go back. You can however play many of the low level Prophecies areas in Hard Mode. No matter where you start or with what, the entire game map will eventually be open to you.

Biggest tip for leveling Assassin. On the starting island you will seem to be almost indestructible. But entering Factions mainland, you will find yourself in a city where dwell critters that explode when they die and elementalists who will fry you. Solution? Find a simple no requirement longbow or flatbow early on and put this in weapons slot 4. You can use this bow to pull groups that are close to other groups, and you can start combat with the bow. The group of henchmen including the hench warrior will take the brunt of the initial casting damage. Then switch to daggers, go in and blow 'em away.

The Assassin is incredibly powerful. But you need the support of a good group of hench. Never leave town without a hench warrior. Worth its weight.

Consider getting the complete edition or buy EotN sooner. At level 10 you can go to the EotN and gain several heroes which are worth their weight in gold. I would think Livia as a Minion Master would benefit an Assassin as a dozen minions running around in melee would take some of the pressure off of you.

Lol? Euhm, no? Unlocking HM in factions does not unlock HM in NF... For that you need to beat NF first...

It's a bit of money but I'd also strongly recommend you buy the 4 skill unlock packs (GW Game Store). It goes a long way if you don't want to spend your time trying to unlock skills your heroes will need for the popular hero builds. Still doable without it but if you got the cash and don't want to have to worry about the hassle, get them as well.

From buying the Guild Wars Trilogy, you will be able to play through out 3/4 story lines (not including EoTN) as any desired profession, once you access the "mainland" of the campaign. You can just pick up the story-line at the mainland or from a mission near the mainland depending on the campaigns. Hope I helped!
