Default No more closer to the stars????

Hello,
Hopefully this is the right thread. I completed the Nahpui Quarter for closer to the stars. Nothing happened I was sent on to the next area. I have a Ritualist, there is now the two crossed swords over Nahpui Quarter. So, am I missing something??? This is the area for "closer to the stars" correct? So where's the title?? I did all the steps leading up to the mission such as talking to the fishmonger, who sent me to talk to another npc, etc... Is it bugged?? What gives?

there is no title. Completing the mission is what is required to be closer to the stars.
If you were sent on to the next area you are now considered to be closer to the stars.

You may now buy as many if not all (I always buy all) professions as secondaries for that character. That is why "closer to the stars" is the big deal. It is the Augury Rock of Factions or the save Koss quest from Nightfall.

In all three cases the game doesn't put up a big announcement that you now have access to the other secondaries for a mere 500 gold each at a profession changer which is too bad really. Anyway read up on it at the wiki.

There is a centrally located profession changer at the Great Temple of Balthazar and there is Senji at Senji's corner in Factions which is opened up for you after you finished that closer to the stars mission. Also three in the crystal desert but why bother going way out there.

A Prophecies character can hop over and become "closer to the stars" too which is easier than slogging through the crystal desert quests to Augury Rock for most of us. The result is absolutely identical.

Nightfall characters don't have a mission, they automatically get the ability to change profession after the rescue Koss "quest". There is a profession changer that activates in the Command Post after that quest is done but that can use any profession changer in the game then too. (But the Koss rescue doesn't open the professions for Prophecies and Factions characters -- they need Closer to the Stars (easiest) or Augury Rock (pain to get too since all 4 desert missions have to be done first).

Also in game there is no explanation to you how to switch professions AFTER you buy them. Open the Skills and Attributes Panel in any town or outpost and there will now be a menu at the top that allows you to switch to any secondary and re-distribute the skill points and skills for same to your heart's content again AFTER you buy that profession from a profession changer.

Hope that helps some. Cause Closer to the Stars is a big deal since you can now rock out any secondary you want as soon as you buy it for a very low 500 gold per secondary.

And you buy a particular secondary but ONCE. You don't re-buy it when you want to use it again. It is yours forever in that little menu on your Skills and Attributes Panel. That's why I just buy them all immediately since you need them all too to go for Elite Skills title anyway.

1) Because for some of the 6 proph chars they give an additional skill compared to any of the other skill changers (for free).
2) Because if you do their quests you can both save the 500 gold and get some (very little) XP on top of it.
3) Because as a Proph char you might just enjoy to play the game it was designed in the first place w/o taking "shortcuts".

If you ignore the the 50 000 XP for Augury Rock ... *rolleyes*

And the NF quest is called Hunted!

Well ,what is 500 gold? Chickenfeed. Less then chickenfeed.

What is 50K experience points by that time in the game? Nothing really.

You still do Augury Rock eventually. You just don't get tied down by big brother's timeline even if you skip the wilderness quests like everyone did to get to Augury Rock quicker. In other words you think for yourself and enjoy the game your way.

And when I started playing Guild Wars there wasn't just Prophecies only. That would have been boring not to have the full game from the get go for me.

Glad I came across the game 6+ years ago when they fixed stuff like having to wait until Augury Rock to get the other professions. And it was a fix otherwise they would have barred Prophecies characters from gaining access to the professions via Closer to the Stars.

Sorry, can't eye roll back at you. I think that sort of stuff is pretty rude and uncivil.

I *interpreted* (and potentially wrongly so) OP's post as him doing his very first run through the game.

And when I started to play in 2005, I was ... broke. A lot. Most of the time.
I needed to upgrade my armour. Buy skills. Buy signets. Buy weapons. Didn't have access to the farm spots and lacked the needed equipment (and I hate farming anyway). So I was broke and 2k (or 3k) might've made a small difference.
And when Factions came out I was broke again (literally below 10k) since the PvE chars needed to be made ready for PvP again.

And if you do this

then you won't be level 20 yet - and 50k XP will be seriously nice.

It's funny how you seem to imply in the rest of your post how this

seems to boil down to your way and nothing else.

Well, for a whole year Prophecies *was* the full game.
